On Route 495, a Worcester man died in a tractor-trailer crash.

CHELMSFORD, MASSACHUSETTS —

A tractor-trailer and another automobile crashed on Route 495 Northbound, killing one person, according to Massachusetts State Police.

It happened at Exit 87 in Chelmsford soon after 6:30 a.m.

The man killed in the incident has been identified as Worcester resident Elmer Rivas, 48, who was driving Hyundai Elantra.

Rivas was driving in the left lane and cut him off as he tried to take the exit, according to the tractor-trailer driver, although the reason of the incident is still under investigation.

On Friday, freezing rain and flash freezes produced hazardous driving conditions.

Since 5 p.m. on Thursday, police said troopers have responded to over 200 collisions involving injuries or property damage.
