Makai Ashton-Langford of Worcester has turned it up a notch at Boston College!!

DeMarr Langford Jr. always knew his elder brother Makai Ashton-Langford had real game and was a cut above many others with similar ambitions, but the moment it finally dawned on him that his role model was going places, Langford Jr. will never forget.

Langford Jr. recalls glancing up his phone shortly after Ashton-Langford committed to play basketball at UConn and seeing his brother trending on Twitter. At the time, Ashton-Langford, a Worcester native who was ranked as ESPN's No. 36 overall prospect in the Class of 2017, was on track to become the next star guard at a program that produces some of the best. Langford Jr. was awestruck as he recalled all the backyard skirmishes, they had as youngsters.

However, Ashton-adventure Langford's did not go as planned for Langford Jr. and the rest of the family. After assistant coach Glen Miller was fired at UConn in 2017, he explored Louisville before Rick Pitino was sacked, and ultimately chose Providence as the Friars' highest-rated recruit since 2012.

He averaged just 4.2 points in 13 minutes as a freshman and 3.7 points in 17 minutes as a sophomore, so he decided to look into his choices in search of a school that would complement his game. After moving to Boston College and missing the 2019-20 season, Ashton-Langford rejoined Langford Jr. in 2020-21, averaging 9.6 points and 3.2 assists in 26.4 minutes.
