APRIL 5th WORCESTER (0-0) at JACKSONVILLE (0-0) 7:05 pm

Worcester Red Sox LHPs Darwinzon Hernandez/Kyle Hart vs. Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp RHP Max Meyer

Happy New Year – The Worcester Red Sox, who last year made history on May 4, 2021 when they played their first-ever game as the newly-relocated Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox (a 6-1 loss to the Buffalo Bisons in Trenton, NJ), begin their second season tonight - almost a month earlier than last year - when they face the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (AAA-Miami Marlins) at 7:05 pm at 121 Financial Ballpark in downtown Jacksonville, FL (live on NASH 98.9 FM, The Pike 100.1 FM, and the entire WooSox Radio Network along with live on MiLB.TV).

The Sunshine State – Tonight marks the first game for a Red Sox Triple-A team in the State of Florida in 54 years since the Louisville Colonels (the then-Red Sox AAA affiliate) played the Jacksonville Suns (then the AAA affiliate of the Mets) in 1968. The Pawtucket Red Sox never played a regular-season game in Florida nor have the Worcester Red Sox obviously. But no one is complaining mind you, as game time temperature tonight in Jacksonville will be close to 80 degrees!

Broadcast News - The WooSox will have all of their 150 games this season broadcast on the WooSox Radio Network, led by flagship Nash Icon 98.9 FM along with several other stations along the Network. Tyler Murray and Jim Cain call all the action starting tonight with the pre-game show at 6:45 pm. The full WooSox Radio Network will carry tonight’s season-opener: 98.9 FM NASH ICON in Worcester, 100.1 FM THE PIKE in Worcester, 105.3 FM/1280 AM WPKZ in Fitchburg, 101.3 FM/1490 AM WMRC in Milford,

1380 AM WNRI in Woonsocket, RI, 103.1 FM/1230 AM WBLQ in Westerly, RI, and 105.5 FM/1450 AM WWRI in Kent County, RI. Furthermore, all Sunday WooSox games this season will air on 830 AM WCRN in Westborough, MA.

Lights, Camera, Action - All 75 home games at Polar Park will once again be televised on NESN or NESN+. NESN+ will be live from Polar Park this coming Tuesday afternoon for the WooSox home-opener (broadcast time is 2:00 pm with first pitch vs. Leigh Valley at 3:05 pm) while NESN will have next Wednesday’s telecast vs. the IronPigs live at 6:45 pm. Murray and Cain will be joined by returning WooSox broadcasters Mike Antonellis, Jay Burnham, and Cooper Boardman to call WooSox action on both radio and television.

See You Soon – Speaking of the WooSox Opening Day at Polar Park one week from today...Plenty of good tickets in all seating categories remain for the home-opener at Polar Park vs. the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (AAA-Philadelphia) this coming Tuesday, April 12, with a special 3:05 pm Opening Day start. Visit woosox.com for more details.

Homestand Highlights – After the Opening Day pomp and circumstance (fans will want to be in their seats by 2:30 pm to watch the always-popular pre-game ceremonies), the first night game of the season at Polar Park will take place on Wednesday, April 13 at 6:45 pm. That evening is the first of seven WooSox Bobblehead Nights during the course of the season, this one featuring heralded first baseman Triston Casas. Thursday night, April 14, is the debut of the club’s new WooU program, a student loyalty program, and Friday night, April 15, features the first of the popular UniBank Fireworks, this one set to a Classic Rock medley. Saturday at 4 p.m., the club continues the tradition set last year of a Sunset Catch on the Field after the game, presented by Dunkin’. And Sundays are Fallon Health Family Funday Sundays, in which Summit Street has extra entertainment for children, and all fans can run the bases after the game. Sunday, April 17 is a special 4:05 pm start and will conclude with an Easter candy hunt on the field after the game.
