In February, the WRTA is reserving seats on all buses honoring Rosa Parks.





The Worcester Regional Transit Authority is reserving a seat on every bus in honor of Rosa Parks for the full month of February, in recognition of Black History Month.


Parks was a civil rights activist who notably refused to move to the rear of a bus in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955, sparking the Montgomery Bus Boycott and ultimately led to the November 1956 judgment that bus segregation was unlawful under the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause.




One seat on each bus will be reserved with the following placard commemorating Parks:
