Colleges in the Worcester regions current mask rules.
Assumption University
As of Monday, Feb. 21, Assumption will operate as a mask-optional school, while it is still suggested for individuals who are completely vaccinated.
Masks are still necessary at on-campus health facilities and for unvaccinated students and teachers, and professors may continue to request masks as needed.
Worcester State University
At Worcester State, masks are required to be worn at all times indoors.
Masks will still be required for students and faculty with medical or religious exemptions, as well as in specified locations like as classrooms, health services, shuttles and buses, and campus events with more than 500 people, beginning March 23.
Masks are still suggested for all other indoor and outdoor settings, but they are no longer essential.
Quinsigamond Community College
QCC, like all other community colleges in Massachusetts, will continue to enforce its current mask ban until further notice. "We will continue to monitor the health climate and make policy decisions in the best interests of our community, to the best of our abilities," QCC said in a statement to Spectrum News 1.
Clark University
In reaction to the spread of the Omicron strain, masks are now compulsory in all public indoor places at Clark. "If health hazards continue to lessen, Clark will evaluate revisions to the campus mask policy shortly following spring break," the school said in a message to students.
Anna Maria College
Anna Maria College becomes a mask-optional and test-optional campus on Monday, Feb. 28. Students and teachers have the option of continuing to wear masks, and individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 or are deemed close contacts must continue to follow quarantine and mask requirements.
College of the Holy Cross
Holy Cross has decided to postpone its mask optional policy until further notice due to a recent rise in instances among students. Masks will be needed in all interior locations on campus, with the exception of resident halls. After their spring break, the college intends to reevaluate this policy to assess changing circumstances.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute
Except for health care institutions, transportation, and individuals who are positive for COVID-19 or are deemed close contacts, WPI will no longer require masks inside as of Sunday, Feb. 13. Masking is still recommended, especially for people who are immunocompromised or have never been vaccinated.
