Becker College Set To Close At End Of Academic Year

By Jerry Filmore Jr. –

With declining enrollments, rising costs, and the added challenges of maintaining physical campus operations while transitioning to online education due to COVID-19, the Becker College Board of Trustees voted Sunday to permanently close at the end of the academic year.

In the fall, classes at Becker will not resume and the sçhool says all tuition deposits will be refunded

The president of the UMass system, Marty Meehan, in a statement said, “It’s very stressful on students, and oftentimes their parents,” he said. “I think the most important thing is to be able to get credits for the program they’re in — be able to transfer those credits — and still be able to graduate on time.”

Many Becker students are disappointed and feeling not just hopeless but like they have to start all over again in choosing where to get there higher education.

The college says that it will assist students in transferring to other schools and it will also assist faculty and other staff in finding new placement.
