Worcester Police Officer Bit By Drug Trafficking Suspect

Thursday afternoon, officers assigned to the Neighborhood Response Team were investigating complaints of illegal off-road vehicle violations. Officers observed two dirt bikes being illegally operated on Beacon St. and followed them.

Eventually one of the bikes stalled out and officers approached the two riders. One of the males, identified as Paulino Crisostomo, 22, of Dayton St, fled from officers on foot.

The second male, Worcester Police say was, “Amaury Pichardo, twenty-seven-years-old of Beacon St, briefly struggled with one of the officers and was placed under arrest for Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest.”

One officer ran after Crisostomo, who Worcester Police say, “Had a fanny pack around his chest. Officers on scene had numerous recent experiences in which firearms were stored inside of fanny packs. The officer nearly caught up to Mr. Crisostomo twice, who pulled away from the officer and was able to free himself both times. Eventually the officer was able to bring Mr. Crisostomo to the ground.”

While the officer had Crisostomo on the ground, he allegedly kept hiding his hands and reaching for something. Worcester Police say, “Mr. Crisostomo resisted attempts to bring him into custody and dug his teeth into the officer’s chest. The officer was able to reposition himself, at which point Mr. Crisostomo bit into the officer’s arm and did not let go. The officer was desperately calling for assistance as Mr. Crisostomo continued biting his arm as hard as he could. The officer was eventually able to pull his arm out, which let Mr. Crisostomo create enough space to get back to his feet and run away again.”

Eventually responding officers arrived to assist the other officer and Crisostomo was taken into custody on Hancock St. Worcester Police say, “During the struggle, several rounds of 9mm ammunition had fallen out of Mr. Crisostomo’s fanny pack. Mr. Crisostomo does not have an FID Card or a license to possess firearms. Officers also discovered a significant amount of what appeared to be Fentanyl in several plastic bags and a knife on Mr. Crisostomo’s person. Officers discovered that the dirt bike ridden by Mr. Crisostomo had been stolen in 2018.”

Crisostomo has been charged with Receiving Stolen Property over $1200, Trafficking in Fentanyl over 10 Grams, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Mayhem, Operating an Off Road Vehicle on a Public Way, No Helmet, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, and Resisting Arrest.

The officer who was bit by Crisostomo, they were taken to an area hospital to be treated for several open wounds.
