After serving fried chicken to commemorate Black History Month, a Massachusetts school apologizes.

After opting to serve fried chicken for lunch to commemorate the start of Black History Month, a Massachusetts school has issued an apology.

Earlier this week, Xaverian Brothers High School sparked outrage as students claimed the school publicized the noon menu during the morning announcement.

The idea, according to administrators at the private school, came from a Black cafeteria worker.

It was an attempt, they argued, to teach kids about Black history and culture.

According to Boston 7 News, the high school has been in the news for a few months when the administration initiated an inquiry into racial and sexual verbal harassment after a playoff football game.

“We are deeply troubled and disheartened by our failure in this instance and take full responsibility for it,” Conca said in a statement. “I offer my sincere apologies for the harm that our actions may have caused.”

Administrators also said that actions are being made to correct the error.
