On Saturday night, at approximately 6:00 p.m. State Police assigned to the Sturbridge Barracks responded to reports of a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Route 84 prior to Exit 6B in Sturbridge.
State Police said, “Lifesaving efforts were immediately attempted by responding cruisers, however, the crash resulted in fatal injuries to one occupant in one vehicle and two occupants in a second vehicle.
The vehicle travelling west in the eastbound lanes was a 2009 Nissan Murano. The Nissan struck a 2011 Volvo XC60 traveling east on the eastbound side.
The operator of the Nissan has been identified by State Police as Deyja Jackson, 40, of Worcester.
The operator and passenger in the Volvo, have been identified by State Police as Irene Karam, 83, of Manchester, N.H. and Patricia Knauer, 62, of Deland, Fla.
The facts and circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
